Presentation of the Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is an internationally recognised certification that authorises its holder to fly single-engine aircraft for non-commercial purposes. Unlike the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL), the PPL does not limit the number of passengers or the maximum weight of the aircraft, offering greater flexibility.

 Admission requirements

  • Age: must be at least 18 years old
  • Medical certificate: obtain a physical fitness certificate, class 1 or 2
 Training programme

The theoretical training includes approximately 100 hours of lessons covering essential subjects such as:
  • Aviation regulations
  • Principles of flight
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Human factors
  • Communications

These courses can be taken online.

Practical training requires a minimum of 45 hours' flying time, broken down as follows:
  • At least 25 hours of dual flight with a qualified instructor.
  • At least 10 hours of supervised solo flying, including navigations, including a flight of at least 150 nautical miles (approximately 270 km) with two landings at different aerodromes.
Training assessments

  • Theory exam: A multiple-choice test covering the modules studied.
